A Burning Desire

Once again I am learning to face what lies deep within my soul. It was just like before, when questions continued to remain unanswered, and those who once swore to love me proved to be nothing but unreliable. Day after day, my hands prove to be of use for those who know the type of end they are crafting with each passing moment. Though I may have had a glimpse of mine, I know with what is soon to take place will likely bring about a shift that will either destroy or build upon all that I have reclaimed since the exile.

I read the words you wrote so cleverly, A part of me believed in what you said, a lighter part, a brighter part. But thanks the lords that the part of me that still remains amongst burning shadows, failed to bat an eye towards the false light I now feel you had enticed me with. I’ve seen structures crash much greater and much grander than those that were built with the hands of gold; I’ve seen love be found in places that for me felt abandoned and old, but to others a wildland of new opportunities. But now here we are, staring down a road leading to a Twilight much more violent that this place has ever seen, leading to a darker night that I dread holds the fates for some and the fortune for others that may see me ending up with the lower end of the bargain.

You can stay with my now, hold my hand, as I dive into what light I have left, as I fight against the shadows that march upon us now – as I grasp that small flare which now simmers and smokes silently. This is the desire that I hold, and you are the plague that continues to reap upon my soul. For while I do not tread this path alone, surely, I may be the only one with the new-found acceptance of what may come about. For everyday we fade further and further from who we’re meant to be, and with every second we fade, comes the closing in of more shadows. The burning they have taken on is now the desire I wish to claim as my own – for I now seek to own what they hold, for soon I will become them – for I must be greater.
