04 Dec From Dimmer Roads, to Shimmering Trails – An Epilogue
I am no stranger to the the two roads that diverged in a yellow wood. For I can say now that both have been traversed greater than any path known to man. The roads that I had come across however, were of an older Advent, met during the day’s before the rise of the Cavern Walls, during the day’s when I was once whole.
For it was these roads and all that they were that beckoned me towards a future, towards a trail so enticing, that my very soul could not pass up the offer. Perhaps it was my confidence, or maybe my ignorance then that had lead me to make the choice I had made, that had lead me to indulge in some mysterious poison that would forever taint my very being. A blessing and a curse this poison was, for since then, I have never been the same.
From the several wars that have been waged since that time, something part of me, yet now so distant had grown, had learned, had let go of every ounce of fear it once known and became the very light it is told that I once was. But even now, it all seems like a blurred dream of past eras, swept up and now rusting at the bottom of some dark and dangerous sea.
For the roads that I had come across were like none other, and as whole as I was, I knew I could not travel both as a sole self. What followed this quick realization was not a long gaze down one road, and an inspection down the other; but an action that would instead shake the very foundation of my souls core. For what would follow was a split so painful, and a pain so dividing that in the mere moments that would follow, I would no longer be whole.
It was in this very moment that I knew the echoes would begin. For with the division that had taken place, the origin, and the counterpart, the light and the dark, would take their separate paths, endure their separate struggles, and fight their separate wars; ultimately dreaming to one day become whole again. And in the end, that is what began it all, that was what made all the difference.
