Shadows (First Encounter)

Dear Young One,

Show me what you have become. Hidden and locked away for so many years, crying, screaming, begging to be set free. Upon our meeting, you spoke of a time where the stakes were higher than ever before, and in the aftermath of that gamble, you were left behind, only to become an echo of what once was.

So here I now find you, scarred and bruised, yet with every piercing memory of all that I no longer seek to remember, of all that my heart can no longer bear to feel. It was you who had waged wars of the past, treading through terrain much more violent that he who walks in grander places now. Young One, you had the purest of hearts and greatest of intentions; but lies and spies had your hands twisted and tied in chains of Fates as you were tossed into rough seas to meet your fate. Fragmented and fractured your soul was as you witnessed more than yourself begin to seek to the bottom…and then – blackness.

I know one day soon, his freedom will come about. Whether he meets that freedom at the Dawn of a new Era, or the Nightfall of an old is up to something much more greater than myself. It is up to Shadows and Echoes that have me outnumbered. I pray he will find his true salvation. For such a young soul does not deserve to be kept in chains for so long. I know that he is soon to meet his darkest hour, as am I, but even with this in mind we both continue to exist. For it was this encounter with him that I realized there may be a place for me in this, that perhaps throughout all this time I had missed something. But despite this, it begins to grow darker here as the many eyes have begun to become locked to the above – as Shadows begin to infiltrate at a much more rapid pace.
